Dalyan

Dalyan has become famous in the world suddenly in 1987. Because the İz tuzu coast is the breeding place for ‘Caretta-Carettas’ in the region. By the efforts of the nature lovers the region was opened to the public on condition of building prefabricated facilities and the region was declared as a special protected area. There are also other regulations to protect turtles. People living in this area live harmonously with caretta turtles which are believed that they are exist for 90 million years there. A huge statue which was erected in the center of Dalyan is the expression of Dalyan gratitude to caretta-carettas which made the region known by the world.
There are thermal springs in the south of the Köyceğiz lake at the foot of the Evlenmez mountain and around the Dalyan stream and lake. The medium-size thermal spring is preferred for its mud bath. It was newly restored and opened to tourism. The spring is famous for its beauty mud. The water boils under the rocks. The warm water softens the skin and eliminate wrinkles because it contains a high ratio sulphur.
The Dalaman river is born in Denizli and falls into the sea in the province center. First the river was used for agricultural purpose center. Then it was noticed that the river is convenient for rafting because of the speedy flow of the river.
